This tour is based in Lewiston, Idaho right across the Snake River from Clarkston, Washington. The twin cities are named after Lewis and Clark. Lewiston and Clarkston are the furthest inland ports in the Western United States. Barges and river boats navigate the Columbia River and then take the Snake River up to these ports.
For some background statistics on the Forest and Paper industry in Idaho, read the American Forest & Paper Association's, Idaho Forest & Paper Industry At a Glance publication (you will need Adobe's Acrobat Reader to view).
Tour participants stay at the Quality Inn in Clarkston, Washington, on the banks of the Snake River across from Lewiston, Idaho. This is our home base for the duration of the tour.
