Aerial View of the Quality Inn, Clarkston with Beamer's Hells Canyon Tour nearby
The boats that take us to dinner are conveniently located behind the hotel.

The Quality Inn and Conference Center in Clarkston was again home base for this year's Intermountain Region Teachers' Tour. Tour participants checked in as they arrived throughout the day.

Orientation began in the conference room at 5PM with introduction of tour hosts, sponsors, and fellow participants followed by a welcoming address by Steven Daley Laursen, Dean of College of Natural Resources of University of Idaho.

Steven addressed the complexity of ecosystem management especially in Idaho, where three diverse ecosystems (the Rocky Mountains, The Great Basin, and the Pacific Northwest) converge. In order to address the issues related to managing the ecosystem it is important to learn the basics of the ecosystems and their processes. From this understanding informed decisions can arise to address the demand for services.
