Welcome to the Home Page for the
2003 Southeastern Region Teachers' Tour

June 18-21, 2003

Our 2003 Southeastern Teachers' Tour Group

This tour was based in Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island, just north of Jacksonville, Florida. The forest products industry is based primarily on pine products. Throughout this tour we learned much about southern pine ecosystems and issues and considerations regarding silviculture and management in this area. For a quick identification guide of some of the more common pines we saw, check out this page, put together by Morgan Holen.

For some background statistics on the Forest and Paper industry in Florida, read the American Forest & Paper Association's, Florida Forest & Paper Industry At a Glance publication (you will need Adobe's Acrobat Reader Click to Get Adobe Acrobat to view).
