Since 1989, our organization has worked to tell the wonderful story of North American forests and wood, the miracle resource. Through award winning videos, dozens of well-researched Eco-Link publications, our extensive website, Teachers’ Tours and other educational products, the Temperate Forest Foundation has built a reputation for style, substance, quality and balance.

The kit comes with a contents list that details all of the enclosed forest products.
We thank the organizations who provided samples for this kit, and the Educators who reviewed the kit, for their invaluable contributions.
As we begin the 21st century, the challenge to educate tomorrow’s citizens is greater than ever, especially since our society is over 70% urban. This creates a huge disconnect between the sustainable consumption and production of resources. We are introducing this Education Kit to assist in teaching our next generation of voters and consumers about forest resources, and the choices they have to make.
This Education Kit is designed for the United States and Canada. It is all that is needed to open up the world of forests, trees and wood. The kit will help you address social, economic and ecological issues. Building a sustainable society involves both the conservation and development of natural resources. A working knowledge of the issues and options will put you in a position to make informed choices, and to help others make theirs.
This kit will engage your senses of touch, feel, smell,
sight and hearing. The "hard" kit and everything in the kit is made of wood, which came from trees in a forest. With a good imagination, and some help from videos, you will be transported into the forest.
Our website supplements the hard kit. Here you will find information and
links to go as wide and deep as you wish in any direction that strikes your interest.
Building a sustainable society is as easy and as difficult as integrating these three circles. Like playing golf or the violin it will be hard to master, but we have to keep on trying. This is our challenge in living on a planet with 10 billion people.
This kit is intended to open the doors to North American Forests, trees and wood products, in that order.
A great way to present this material is in three separate modules. The first module could include a trip to a forest to discuss ecosystems, the second trip to a nursery or lab, and the third visit to a mill. If getting out there is not possible, then you can take a virtual tour of any of our Teachers’ Tour on our website.
