Forests Forever, Forest Resources Advanced Member's Manual

Resource URL: http://catalog.hathitrust.org/Record/010830165
Description: Forests Forever is a wonderful book for the advanced student who wishes to learn about forest management and ways of protecting and using this renewable resource wisely. Through the practice of silviculture, a forest can be managed for specific qualities and uses. Proper management enables us to provide an environment for wildlife and recreation, to protect trees from disease and insect attack, to grow trees for wood products, and to ensure water quality. The student will learn about different forest types and the surrounding environment including specialized forest areas designed for windbreaks, shelterbelts and urban environments. Within each topic area are descriptions of careers in natural resources, "EnviroQuotes", and "Tree-vial Pursuits" to help us use our forest resources wisely. In addition, suggested fair or science projects follow each topic area.
