This plant produces 120,000,000 sq ft of plywood annually.

The plywood is made from Red/Douglas Fir and Larch (60%) and Grand Fir (40%).

This wheel loader is equipped with a log fork.

Logs are steamed to ensure that they are easily

pealed to veneers. Plywood quality logs are

referred to as peeler logs or veneer logs.

Logs are peeled into sheets of veneer on a lathe at the

Potlatch Plywood Mill in St. Maries. These veneers are laid

at right angles to one another and glued together to form

sheets of plywood.

This is a "peeler core" which is what's left after a log is

peeled into veneer. This can be used as a fence post

or made into chips for the paper mill.

These stacks of veneers will be used to create

sheets of plywood.
