Friday Morning and Lunch, August 23, 2002

Teachers started off the morning with an introduction by CEC's Director of Education, Bill Steer. From there, teachers were given a lesson on interpreting maps and using Global Positioning Systems.

After learning about GPS, teachers were taken out into the forest to learn about traditional and modern forestry data collection tools. Teachers learned how to use a clinometer to measure the height of trees, calipers and diameter tape to measure the diameter and circumference of a tree and an increment borer tool to measure the age of trees.
